# Our Watch Institute > The Our Watch Institute partners with Australian businesses and universities to prevent gender-based violence through expert-led training, consulting, and culture change. It is an initiative of Our Watch — Australia's national organisation for the primary prevention of violence against women — funded by the Goodman Foundation. The Institute's approach is grounded in evidence that gender inequality is the root cause of violence against women, and that workplaces are powerful sites for driving societal change. On average, one woman is killed every 9 days in Australia by a current or former partner. Under Australia's Sex Discrimination Act 1984 (Cth), all businesses have a Positive Duty to proactively prevent sexual harassment and sex-based discrimination at work. Services include training (in-person or online, flexible durations), organisational strategy support, and bespoke consulting — co-designed with each organisation. OWI is not a crisis service, counselling provider, or individual support service. All engagement is at the organisational level, Australia-wide. Revenue generated by the Institute is self-sustaining, freeing other Our Watch funding for research, innovation, and public policy. Partners include Goodman Foundation, Bupa, Victoria University, Ford Australia, Adelaide Hills Council, and AG Coombs.
